Wisselwerk

Since 2003 Holland Dance Festival organises the programma WisselWerk (every two year), a collaboration of professionals and amateurs from the world of Dance.

The intention of WisselWerk is a special cooperation of 3 well-known amateur dance companies and 3 professional choreographers. On invitation of the Festival, professionals and amateur dancers are challenged to create a full evening programme.

The participating choreographers for WisselWerk are also part of the regular Festival programme. In this way, Holland Dance Festival optimally uses the present top quality.

Joeri Dubbe
Joeri Dubbe wordt de choreograaf van de urban groep binnen het WisselWerk programma. Joeri heeft onder andere gedanst bij Het Nationale Ballet en het Nederlands Dans Theater II en heeft inmiddels verschillende choreografieën op zijn naam staan waaronder Prospect Future (Korzo Productie). Als dansmaker vindt hij het belangrijk om met verschillende soorten dans en dansers te werken, waarmee hij graag nieuwe dingen wil uit proberen. Dit maakt Joeri een uitstekende choreograaf voor de dansers die we zoeken. Wil je iets van hem bekijken klik dan hier.

Maurice Causey
De tweede WisselWerk choreograaf is de uitzonderlijke dansartiest Maurice Causey (Amerika). Vanaf zijn 15e maakte hij al snel een bliksemcarrière  bij verschillende dansopleidingen in Amerika en kreeg op 18-jarige leeftijd een contract bij de Cleveland Ballet in Ohio. Hierna danste hij  3 jaar bij het Pennsylvania Ballet en bemachtigde een plek bij het beroemde National Ballet of Canada. In 1991 werd Maurice door William Forsythe gevraagd als eerste danser bij het prestigieuze Frankfurt Ballet. Hier bleef hij 8 jaar en ontwikkelde zijn improvisatie vaardigheden als ook zijn talent voor choreografie en co choreografeerde werken als Eidos Telos en Sleepers Guts.

Maurice reisde als danser de hele wereld af en belandde uiteindelijk in Zweden waar hij zijn dansschoenen verruilde voor het Ballet Meesterschap bij het Royal Swedisch Ballet in Stockholm. In 2004 verhuisde Maurice Causey naar Nederland waar hij tot de dag van vandaag Ballet Meester van het NDT I is. Bij het Nederlands Dans Theater heeft Maurice choreografen als Jorma Elo, Alexander Ekman en Lightfoot/Leon geassisteerd bij hun werken.  Daarnaast maakte hij ook eigen werk  zoals My Fleeting Visions voor het gezelschap Stockholm 59 North en deed zelfs projecten voor de Amerikaanse en Duitse televisie. En alsof Maurice Causey het nog niet druk genoeg heeft, reist hij ook nog door Europa met zijn solo werk.

Amos Ben-Tal
Danser en choreograaf Amos Ben-Tal (Israel) begon zijn carrière op 13-jarige leeftijd bij verschillende dansscholen en studeerde uiteindelijk aan de National Ballet School in Canada. In Nederland kreeg hij een plek bij het Nederlands Dans Theater II (voor jonge dansers) en klom voorzichtig op naar de top bij NDT I. Amos danste 9 jaar bij het NDT en werkte samen met choreografen als Jiri Kylian, Ohad Naharin, William Forsythe en Matz Ek. Hij ontdekte in deze tijd ook zijn passie voor choreografie en maakte het succesvolle “Discontinyou” waarna hij door het NDT I werd gevraagd de voorstelling “Track” te maken. In 2006 begon Amos Ben-Tal voor zichzelf en creëerde verschillende succesvolle choreografieën als Tangent (met Kenzo Kusada). Naast dansen en choreograferen speelt Amos in de rockband Noblesse waarin hij zingt en gitaar speelt.

Jérôme Meyer
Jérôme Meyer (Switserland) is an independent choreographer based in the Netherlands and combines dance, music and the management of his own dance company. Together with his wife Isabelle Chaffaud (France) he runs the MC Dance Company and produced successful choreographies such as Corps à Corps, Talking Body and Singing Voice and Kamerdans.  The works of MC Dance Company were shown in many theaters in the Netherlands as in theaters in Germany, France, South Africa, the USA and Switserland.  During this year’s  Holland Dance Festival, Jérôme will be the teacher of the NDT repertoire “Whereabout Unknown” by Jiří Kilián and “Walking Mad” by  Johan Inger, which he will teach  to Danzo, an amateur dance company in Deventer, the Netherlands.

In 1981 Jérôme started his career at the Conservatory of Genève and studied classic, modern, jazz an steps dance next to the violin. He graduated in Dance at the University for Music and Performing arts in Munich and for his MBA in The Hague. He also graduated for his masters in dance/choreography at Codarts University. During his endeavors in education, Jérôme danced with different well-known companies as the Scapino Ballet, the Grand theatre de Genève, the Batsheva Dance Company of Ohad Naharin in Israel and became a solist at the Nederlands Dans Theater I  lead by Jiri Kylian. As a dancer Jérôme is critically acclaimed and was finalist of the Hannover International Choreographer competition. Next to his dancing and creating own works Jérôme also teaches  various dance workshops.
