Meryl Tankard is interested in "why we move” and "what moves us". The masterclass explores the notion of '’what moves you?" using improvisational techniques to turn anything and everything into dance. She may also teach some movements from her previous works.

Meryl Tankard
Meryl Tankard began her career as a classical dancer with the Australian Ballet. After discovering Pina Bausch in the late 70's she joined the Wuppertaler Tanztheater and soon became one of the leading figures in the company, creating roles in Cafe Muller, Kontakthof, Arien and 1980 amongst others. 
Wanting to develop her own work Meryl returned to Australia in 1989 and established her own company in Canberra. Since 2000 Meryl has worked as a freelance artist and creating new works for leading companies such as Lyon Ballet, Netherlands Dance Theatre and The Australian Ballet. She choreographs for film, TV, opera and has worked with Andrew Lloyd Webber on the West End and Disney on Broadway.
