After a warm-up, participants learn professional repertoire from the company’s current tour with a focus on momentum, dynamics and contact work, leaving  your with confidence in your ability to approach challenging movement. The collective BalletBoyz specifically spotlights male dancers and in recent years has grown into one of the most original, idiosyncratic and innovative forces in modern dance.

Teachers
Leon Poulton graduated from Laban in 2009 with a 1st Class honours degree. He has performed in the summer programme of ROH2 working with Will Tuckett. His acceptance into the company brought him full circle as he started dancing by participating in workshops run by Nunn and Trevitt whilst still at secondary school in his native Essex. Leon also appeared in BalletBoyz Productions’ BalletBoyz: The Rite of Spring for BBC3.

Matthew is from Hythe in Kent and is unique amongst the company in that he has no formal training. He was introduced to dance at Brockhill Park School and prior to being accepted into BalletBoyz worked with numerous youth dance groups in Kent as well as touring throughout the UK in summer 2009 in a Without Walls Commission. Had he not been selected to join the company, Matt had completed his first stage application to join The Royal Marines.
