Choreography: Ohad Naharin & Sharon Eyal
Choreography: Ohad Naharin & Sharon Eyal
The earthly inspiration of Naharin
The dancers of Batsheva take the stage with a powerful, personal presence. Their movement material is extraordinary, with parts of the body stretching in unexpected directions and a concentrated, internal focus. They are articulate dancers, trained in the now famous GAGA technique of Batsheva's artistic director Ohad Naharin. His training method is based on new ways in which the body can move - sensory, inventive and with visual impact. It has a sensual, earthy, mystical and exciting look.
Naharin is no newcomer to the Dutch dance world with this movement idiom. In 1987, Jiri Kylián invited him to choreograph for Nederlands Dans Theater; an occasion that greatly influenced the rest of his career. Naharin cherishes this tradition and, in his turn, brings the young choreographer Sharon Eyal to The Hague, dancing capital of the Netherlands. Her choreography 'Love' is presented by the young generation of the Batsheva Dance Ensemble.
Naharin and his company are great audience favourites at the festival, where he presented his location performance 'Mammootot' in 2005. Besides 'Love', the Batsheva Dance Company is presenting 'Max'; a work about the pleasure and the pain of life, experienced by an individual or a community. Experience the exceptional versatility of Batsheva's dancers, which Naharin uses along with his earthly inspiration to present an ode to Nederlands Dans Theater.
After the performance of the 4th of November, a special party will take place - the TLV BREAK party with dj Elad Ron - in studio 3 of the Lucent Danstheater:
TLV BREAK party - One of the city’s top DJs is here to make sure you will not go to sleep tonight-just as we do in Tel-Aviv!
DJ Elad Ron: Winner of best DJ freestyle award in 2002 championship.
