One of the places where dance-lovers can see new artists from the whole world at work is the ‘Internationales Solo-Tanz-Theater Festival’ in Stuttgart – A Festival and competition for young dancers and contemporary choreographers. The six competition winners of the previous edition made an appearance in the Holland Dance Festival 2005 and they made quite an impression on the audience. Samuel Wuersten, member of the jury in Stuttgart was easily convinced that he should present the winners of this year’s Festival as well – not least, because three of the winners came from the Dutch dance scene. Ryan Lawrence (dancer with the Scapino Ballet Rotterdam) won the first prize in the category Choreography; the first prize in the category Dance was won by Golan Yosef (formerly dancer with Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, It-Dansa and Ballet National de Marseille). Katarzyna Sitarz (second year student at the Rotterdam Dance Academy) won two prizes: third prize in the categories Choreography and Dance. The other two winners are Maura Morales (second prize Choreography) and Pauline de Laet (second prize Dance). The works of these five dance-artists are a guarantee for a richly coloured and varied program of the highest artistic level. It also offers a hopeful glance at the future of dance.
