Parade Holland Dance Festival 2007: “Enchanting”
The eleventh edition of the Holland Dance Festival also sees, for the third time, the ‘Dansparade’. Over 1000 amateur dancers from throughout the province of Zuid-Holland will dance their way through the center of Dance City The Hague for a kilometre and a half on November 4 starting at 13:30 hrs., followed by a finale on the Spuiplein at 16:00 hrs. This year’s theme is ‘Enchanting’. Eighteen dance schools and dance groups from The Hague and elsewhere in the province took up this theme and created their own choreography. Admittance to the parade is free.

Parade & Route
Each choreography is different from the next; each school realized the theme in their own particular style. This varied from Bollywood to Country & Western, from Tango to Modern dance. Dancers young and old participate in the Dansparade. The parade starts at the Lange Voorhout and winds its way via the Lange Houtstraat over het Plein to the Lange Poten and Spui. The Dansparade reaches its conclusion at the corner of Spui and Kalvermarkt.

Finale
After watching the parade streetside, spectators can take their places on the bleachers around the Spuiplein to enjoy the conclusion of the Dansparade 2007. This finale begins at 16:00 with a mass choreography to the strains of Ravel’s ‘Bolero’. The choreography is a creation by Thom Stuart (De Dutch Don’t Dance Division); the live music will be played by the Big Band of the Rotterdam featuring soloist opera singer Wiebke Goëtjes.

The Dansparade cannot be seen from the Spuiplein, only the finale will be performed there. Sufficient time has been allowed between the end of the parade and the beginning of the finale to give spectators the chance to get to the Spuiplein and find a seat on the bleachers.
