Historic Dance: Renaissance
Compared with Baroque dance, dances from the Renaissance period are technically less complex. They are, however, much faster. The 15th century dances have come down to us in French and Italian manuscripts. They vary from dances with simple steps and pure, almost abstract forms to the so-called ‘balli’ with different, quickly alternating dance rhythms.
