The Francesca Harper Project
Modo Fusion: Truth For Sale
‘You want passion? It’s here…’
Francesca Harper was trained as a dancer (School of American Ballet, Joffrey Ballet School, The Ailey School), but she is now known as dancer, choreographer, singer-songwriter, filmmaker and conceptual artist. All of these qualities came into play in developing, choreographing and directing Modo Fusion: Truth For Sale; the surprising multidisciplinary performance with which the Francesca Harper Project will grace the program. After performing with the Dance Theatre of Harlem, Francesca Harper danced from 1994 to 1999 with the Ballett Frankfurt, the company of William Forsythe. Since her return to her country of origin in 2000, Harper has played roles in a number of important Broadway plays such as Fosse, The Color Purple and Sweet Charity. The mix of dance, music, film and text in Modo Fusion: Truth For Sale, as beautiful as it is compelling, offers the audience an entertaining, but critical look at the world of entertainment. At the same time Harper gives us an impression of her own experiences as an African American woman and artist. ‘You want passion? It’s here… Compelling and slashing moves? You got ‘em,’ according to the Village Voice.
